Where do I even start from? Is it the struggle of growing my hair or the baldness? I have heard about the hair loss after birth but never thought it is this bad. With my first child, I did experience some breakages but nothing serious. But with my second child, I just had the worst experience. I thought I was going to keep all the hair I grew while pregnant only to find out I am actually going to lose it.
Over the months, my edges has been thining, hair always falling out and the final moment I couldn’t take it any more was that chunk of hair in the bath tub, infact I was SHOOK. Honestly, I find it hard to cater for my hair, I am the last person passionate about hair. Left with me, I will be rocking short hair for life just like my paternal Grandma. And to think I have two girls, oh Lord. I was managing what I had on my hair until I was left with a bald patch. I remember going into a panick mode thinking I was going bald and also wondaring what I was going to tell my husband. I am known to be cutting my hair randomly and I promised him I will not do that any more but this time around, I had no choice. I did my little research and found out, it is just a temporary phase. Girl, was I relieved. The things our body goes through as a woman is just unimaginable.
What really causes it?
During pregnancy, your estrogen freezes your hair from growing. Majority of the hair on your head is actively growing, while the other is in a resting stage. The ones that you shed on a normal base, won’t and that is how you get that thick beautiful hair when pregnant. After birth your estrogen levels decline and all the hair that was resting starts to fall out.
As I said, my edges was thining out but I noticed the chunk during my 7month postpartum.
How do you prevent it?
Apparently you won’t be able to prevent the hair from falling out, but what you can do is keep letting your hair look good.
• Get a cut; With me, I just chopped it all off so I can start it all over.
• Wear wigs. What I did a lot during this transition was to wear wigs. Very easy
• This is the time to try something new like coloring your hair. The coloring helps in hiding the spots.
• Part your hair differently, wear hair bands, brush your hair backwards.
Always remember to seek advice from your doctor if you think you are loosing too much hair.
The first time I breastfed my first daughter was a struggle. It was not as easy as I thought it would be. Breastfeeding didn’t come naturally for me but thank God for the home nurses that helped me. It can be frustrating and painful but the most beautiful thing.
If you plan on breastfeeding your baby, these essentials are helpful.
- Nursing bra(day and night)
- Breast pump(electric or manual)

I know by now everybody has heard about Rihanna’s make-up line. I am probably the last to get on the wagon but it is better late than never. I am not the type that follows the hype but, there is something about Rihanna so I had to get my hands on it.
I purchased the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, Killawatt Highlighter (trophy wife) and the match stix trio(caramel, truffle, rum). These were the products I was excited about.
I used the products to achieve a fall look.
Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation; First of all, the shade range is great. Rihanna has got everybody covered. I am in love with this foundation because it is not cakey and gives you that natural look. Did I mention it dries up matte? Perfect for us oily skin. Initially, I thought shade 380 was lighter for me but it was perfect for me. The foundation dries to a darker color.
The match stix trio; This was actually my first cream contour and highlight so I was a bit worried about blending but it was easy to work with. Once again, very natural and compliments my skin. I used the caramel concealer under my eye, the bridge of my nose and on my jawline, then I contoured with truffle. I used Laura Mercier loose powder to set it. Finished the look by using rum on my browbone, bridge of my nose and cheekbone.
Killawatt Highlighter; If you love glitter then you should check this highlighter out. Not my everyday look but, I got it because I know I will use it a lot during the festive season. It is extremely pigmented but it’s workable. I plan on using it as an eyeshadow as well.
Overall thoughts based on what I got, I love it!
Have you tried any of the Fenty beauty products? Did you love it or hate it?
Thank you for stopping by.
We all have challenges and battles faced with as individuals in life.
Divergent and unique as they may seem, we still have to face each day as another opportunity to win a battle.
Through experience, I have come to the conclusion that it helps when you speak out instead of bottling everything up. Whatever it may be, sharing the load with someone else can really help.
You don’t necessarily have to tell the whole world your problems, however finding that one person whom you feel comfortable and might give you the needed audience might be the needed strength and courage you need to win. Talking to someone brings relief, empathy, advice and the most important thing is knowing you are not alone.
You will be surprised how many have gone down the lane of depression and dejection as a result of their silence,
You do not have to suffer in silence, Open up! There is always someone ready to listen.
