DAILY ROUTINES.

Baby, LIFESTYLE, toddler

I sit here peacefully in my room with no disturbing yells of ” mommy this or mommy that”. I actually have a space to myself, I can type on my computer with no child grabbing or pressing a key note. This feels amazing. Wondering where the kids are? They are asleep! Sleeping at 8pm is a miracle. I’m never used to this life hehehe!
You wonder why its such a big deal to me? I will tell you why.
Before I had kids, l was told to sleep train my children. I had lots of experienced moms advice me to sleep train my kids as early as possible but guess what? It fell on deaf ears.
Fast forward to the present, I have a 3yr old and a 19month old baby and they sleep when ever they want. Yes,you heard me. It all started with, we are not going any where so they can sleep any time and that was because I was on maternity leave. They will sleep when I am sleeping and l normally don’t sleep early so they will stay up with me. Because of this act, I can’t get anything done when I get back from work. One reason why I haven’t been writing.
Its so hard for me to do anything; Cooking, cleaning you name it.

I do most chores when they are asleep, especially cleaning which l do very late at night. Honestly, its not easy trying to balance full time job with the two girls and I know its because l don’t have a routine. Life would have been so much easier if I instilled that in them when they were younger, but its never too late.
I have started and so far we’re working on it. We’re getting some where. One of my biggest resolution for this year, is to have some routine for the family.
Such as under listed below:
• when I get back from work, I go straight to the kitchen and make dinner( days that my husband is home, he prepares dinner)
• After dinner, we just hang around for a bit just to catch up with them.
• Bathing time is always fun time.
• Book time . I can read one book like 50 times. Lol
• Hot chocolate/milk time
• Since they will sleep when I sleep, I just stay in their room, lock the door, turn off the light then we all sleep in their bed singing rhymes until they sleep or I do(hahaha, 40% of the time cus I am tired). I go to my room once they are asleep.
As a piece of advice to all expecting mothers, please don’t be like me. Especially when you will be returning to work. Make sure you have Some routine in your life. You may not be 100% adherent to it, but having one just brings some order in your life .
I hope this year will be good to us.

POSTPARTUM HAIR LOSS.

Baby, BEAUTY, LIFESTYLE

Where do I even start from? Is it the struggle of growing my hair or the baldness? I have heard about the hair loss after birth but never thought it is this bad. With my first child, I did experience some breakages but nothing serious. But with my second child, I just had the worst experience. I thought I was going to keep all the hair I grew while pregnant only to find out I am actually going to lose it.

Over the months, my edges has been thining, hair always falling out and the final moment I couldn’t take it any more was that chunk of hair in the bath tub, infact I was SHOOK. Honestly, I find it hard to cater for my hair, I am the last person passionate about hair. Left with me, I will be rocking short hair for life just like my paternal Grandma. And to think I have two girls, oh Lord. I was managing what I had on my hair until I was left with a bald patch. I remember going into a panick mode thinking I was going bald and also wondaring what I was going to tell my husband. I am known to be cutting my hair randomly and I promised him I will not do that any more but this time around, I had no choice. I did my little research and found out, it is just a temporary phase. Girl, was I relieved. The things our body goes through as a woman is just unimaginable.

What really causes it?
During pregnancy, your estrogen freezes your hair from growing. Majority of the hair on your head is actively growing, while the other is in a resting stage. The ones that you shed on a normal base, won’t and that is how you get that thick beautiful hair when pregnant. After birth your estrogen levels decline and all the hair that was resting starts to fall out.
As I said, my edges was thining out but I noticed the chunk during my 7month postpartum.

How do you prevent it?
Apparently you won’t be able to prevent the hair from falling out, but what you can do is keep letting your hair look good.
• Get a cut; With me, I just chopped it all off so I can start it all over.
• Wear wigs. What I did a lot during this transition was to wear wigs. Very easy
• This is the time to try something new like coloring your hair. The coloring helps in hiding the spots.
• Part your hair differently, wear hair bands, brush your hair backwards.

Always remember to seek advice from your doctor if you think you are loosing too much hair.

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna

BEAUTY, FASHION

I know by now everybody has heard about Rihanna’s make-up line. I am probably the last to get on the wagon but it is better late than never. I am not the type that follows the hype but, there is something about Rihanna so I had to get my hands on it.

I purchased the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, Killawatt Highlighter (trophy wife) and the match stix trio(caramel, truffle, rum). These were the products I was excited about.

I used the products to achieve a fall look.

Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation; First of all, the shade range is great. Rihanna has got everybody covered. I am in love with this foundation because it is not cakey and gives you that natural look. Did I mention it dries up matte? Perfect for us oily skin. Initially, I thought shade 380 was lighter for me but it was perfect for me.  The foundation dries to a darker color.

The match stix trio;  This was actually my first cream contour and highlight so I was a bit worried about blending but it was easy to work with.  Once again, very natural and compliments my skin. I used the caramel concealer under my eye, the bridge of my nose and on my jawline, then I contoured with truffle. I used Laura Mercier loose powder to set it. Finished the look by using rum on my browbone, bridge of my nose and cheekbone.

Killawatt Highlighter; If you love glitter then you should check this highlighter out. Not my everyday look but, I got it because I know I will use it a lot during the festive season. It is extremely pigmented but it’s workable. I plan on using it as an eyeshadow as well.

Overall thoughts based on what I got, I love it!

Have you tried any of the Fenty beauty products? Did you love it or hate it?

Thank you for stopping by.

Love, Whitney.

DON’T BOTTLE IT UP

INSPIRATION

We all have challenges and battles faced with as individuals in life.

Divergent and unique as they may seem, we still have to face each day as another opportunity to win a battle.

Through experience, I have come to the conclusion that it helps when you speak out instead of bottling everything up. Whatever it may be, sharing the load with someone else can really help.

You don’t  necessarily have to tell the whole world your problems, however finding that one person whom you feel comfortable and might give you the needed audience might be the needed strength and courage you need to win. Talking to someone brings relief, empathy, advice and the most important thing is knowing you are not alone.

You will be surprised how many have gone down the lane of depression and dejection as a result of their silence,

You do not have to suffer in silence, Open up! There is always someone ready to listen.

Love, Whitney

WHAT’S IN MY DIAPER BAG?

Baby

Recently I am all about minimalist approach when it comes to my girls and other things. Literally, I am done with packing the whole house when I am going out with the girls. I remember when I first had Abby, my diaper bag was huge. I will pack a whole lot and truth be told, I didn’t really need all the junk I did pack.
This time around, I know better and one improvement I can testify about is my packing skills.I go out with what I need and also depending on where I am going is how I pack the items. At the moment I am using a Zara office city bag as my diaper bag. I got this bag for the office but it has been converted into a diaper bag. The reason why I love this bag is the compartments and the size. Let’s take a look at what’s in my diaper bag…

IMG_0672_LI

I like to pack snacks for my toddler and carry an extra bottle of milk(either breast milk or formular) for the baby. At the end of the day, it depends on where we are going with the baby. Sometimes, I just end up breast feeding her instead of bottle feeding. I always take a sippy cup for my toddler because she is always thirsty. Also, she hasn’t  mastered  using the cup so I prefer to pour all her drinks in the sippy cup.

In the bigger compartment, I have hair brush in case of messy hair, scented diaper trash bags, nail clipper, hand sanitizer, pacifier, tylenol, band aid, rattle and the nursing cover. I also use the nursing cover to shield her in the car seat.

What I have in the gray bag: change of clothes for the girls, drool bip and burp cloth.  I  pack the clothes according to the weather as well.

The third compartment is where I keep the diapers(I pack 2 diapers for each child), changing pad(washable), baby wipes and Vaseline.

The reason why I did not add any of my items in the diaper bag is beacause, I use a small crossbody bag for my wallet, keys and makeup bag. It is easier and faster for me whenever I want to take out my wallet.

These are the things I always bring with me in the diaper bag.  What do you keep in your diaper bag that you can’t live without? Thank you for reading.

AFFORDABLE BEAUTY ROUTINE..

BEAUTY, LIFESTYLE

In the past three months, I have been loving these new products. I wanted to try some thing new, so I decided to give some of the Garnier skin active products a try. Along with the Garnier products, I also got St. Ives blemish control scrub. I go for products that are oil fee and controls oily skin. As a mother of 2 under 2, I don’t have that luxury of time so I keep my routines simple and the products less.

Morning routine:

  1. Cleanse

facialm cleanser

2. Exfoliate

scrub

3. Tone

toner

4. Moisturize

daily moisturizer

Evening routine:

  • I repeat the same steps but the only difference is,instead of applying the clearly brighter, I use the Garnier leave on peel off mask.

peel

Days that I wear make up, I first clean my make up with wipes then follow the same steps. I don’t really care much about what type of wipes I use. Sometimes I even use baby wipes. I use my facial mask once every week. I usually do that during the weekend.
